Winter Sturgeon fishing for Keeper-size fish has been very good. Catch rates have been 10-25 fish with 2-4 in the legal size slot of 42-60 inches. January-April has historically been our best Keeper months below the Bonneville Dam.
Winter Steelhead kicks off about Thanksgiving and runs through January. The Cowlitz and the North Fork of the Lewis are my picks for awesome Steelheading. Free drifting eggs, bouncing eggs, diver and bait, or pulling plugs all produce fish!
March-April is prime time for Spring Salmon. These are the best eating Salmon of the year! Book early as prime dates fill fast!
May-July is the peak time to catch Legal-size Sturgeon in the Estuary at Astoria. Also, during these months we have two million Shad passing over Bonneville Dam. Catch and release Oversize Sturgeon will be in high gear. These prehistoric fish are the largest fresh water fish in the world! Two to five fish in the 7-11 foot range are hooked and released on a daily basis. Combine great weather, quality equipment, lots of huge fish, and you have a fantastic fishing experience. Keepers near Astoria, Shad and Hogs at Bonneville. We can do it all!
August is the opener for Buoy 10 Salmon (mouth of the Columbia River). This is a world class fishery comprised of King and Silver Salmon. Forecasts are for even more fish than last years record run. Don't miss out on the Northwest's best Salmon Fishery!
September-November is combo time! Fall Kings, Silvers, and Sturgeon will all be in the river at the same time! This allows us to concentrate our efforts to one stretch of the river (Portland to Bonneville Dam). This is the best time of year for a mix of Salmon, Keeper-size Sturgeon, and Oversize Sturgeon.
